Stone Cathedrals of the Karakoram Range
“There is a mountain range ahead of me. Sometimes the sun burns it, sometimes it rains rain, it is often wrapped by fog. It never complains, never waits for acknowledgement. It is always majestic and always gives itself away.” – L. Boff
When thinking about the mountains, colorful images never come to my mind first. In the mountainous areas I am looking mainly for shade. Dark, soaring crags breaking into the sky like the towers of medieval cathedrals remind me that the Mountain God, like the medieval one – is strict, does not interfere in human affairs, leaving him alone. Observing these rocky works of art one can achieve a state of approximation to the absolute despite its unattainability.
