I don’t value social media. I consider it rather a necessity. To me Instagram or Facebook are tools made only to support its development, disavowing what is the most valuable in photography. Basing their system of operation on a mechanism of unreflective liking the things done by people who ‘like’ what we do, creates a vicious circle where the quality of created art becomes less and less important. I use social media absurdities on a daily basis, and the number of likes is steadily growing. However, this is irrelevant in the context of the quality of the images I create and the very process of their creation. Paradoxically, it was thanks to social media that many people got to know my photographs and the conversations we started moved offline. If you ever find one of my social media profiles, write a message, ask a question, leave a trace. I like talking about photography and I value the contact with people which goes beyond massive clicking likes.
